In 2020 export of Kuban wine grew by 16%

357 thousand decalitres of winery products were supplied to the international markets. Veniamin Kondratyev, Chief of the region, told journalists about the status and support of the industry.

As noted by the Governor, from year to year Kuban wines confirm their high quality, gain recognition both in the country and at the international contests. Last year wines won 80 medals. All of this influences the recognizability of wines and export volumes as underscored Veniamin Kondratyev. The growth made 116% as compared to the past year.

The region reserves the public support of viticulture and wine-making. In 2020 the total amount of subsidies made approximately 750 million rubles.

– We put a central focus on laying new vineyards. Until the end of this year we would lay 1.7 thousand hectares and primarily those are local seedlings cultivated in our nurseries and which quality we are confident of. This particular approach enables to strengthen high status of Kuban wines, as inferred the Chief of the region.

For the reminder, over the last five years the supply volumes of Champagne and sparkling wines in the region grew by 4.2 times. In 2024 the region would have to increase the supplies up to 445 thousand decalitres for the total amount of 7.4 million dollars.
