Krasnodar has become a leader in the Southern Federal District in terms of investments and retail trading

Krasnodar has topped the list of large cities in the Southern Federal District in terms of socio-economic development indices as reported by the Press-Service of the Administration of Kuban capital.

According to the Mayor’s Office, the analysis comparing the development of the capitals of the constituent entities of the Southern Federal District (SFD) was prepared by the City Department of Economic Development.

"The rating of the competitive ability of the economies of Krasnodar, Rostov-on-Don, Astrakhan, Volgograd, Elista and Maikop demonstrates the success of the capital of Kuban against other largest cities in SFD, enables to determine weaknesses and strengths in development and further development vectors. Following the results in January-September 2018, Krasnodar demonstrated good results in many sectors, the fact that enabled the city to rank first in terms of 16 criteria out of 34", - told Elena Vasilchenko, Director of the Department of Economic Development, Investments and External Relations.     

The regional center demonstrated the best result in terms of the amount of investments in fixed assets for large and medium-sized companies – 68.8 billion rubles. Astrakhan ranked second accounting for 50.6 billion rubles and Volgograd ranked third accounting for 41.3 billion rubles.

Following the results of January-September, Krasnodar also holds leadership in terms of the retail trade turnover for large and medium-sized companies – 152.7 billion rubles followed by Rostov-on-Don accounting for 129.9 billion rubles and Volgograd accounting for 87 billion rubles.

Krasnodar also ranks first in terms of the retail trade turnover for large and medium-sized companies as per one resident – 154.3 thousand rubles followed by Rostov-on-Don accounting for 114.9 thousand rubles and Volgograd accounting for 85.9 thousand rubles.

Krasnodar is number one in terms of the volume of public fee-based services for large and medium-sized companies – 64.6 billion rubles followed by Rostov-on-Don accounting for 42 billion rubles and Volgograd accounting for 39.9 billion rubles.   

Moreover, Krasnodar holds leadership in terms of the volume of public fee-based services as per one resident – 65.3 thousand rubles followed by Volgograd accounting for 39.4 thousand rubles and Maikop accounting for 35.3 thousand rubles.  

Krasnodar still sustains the lowest unemployment rate in SFD – only 0.2% followed by Rostov-on-Don accounting for 0.4%, Astrakhan accounting for 0.5% and Volgograd accounting for 0.5%.

The Administration of Kuban has been conducting a comparative analysis since 1998 following the results of three, six, nine and twelve months of each year.

Following the results of 2018, the amount of investments in fixed assets is expected to reach, at least, 500 billion rubles in Krasnodar region. The year before the region gained 484.1 billion rubles in investments. In terms of the total amount of borrowed investments, the region ranks seventh among the constituent entities of the Russian Federation while it holds ultimate leadership over the last years in the Southern Federal District.
