The World Chess Championship Is Being Held in the City of Sochi

On November 7, 2014, the match of the World Chess Championship 2014 (FWCM 2014) between the current world champion Magnus Carlsen (Norway) and a contender for the title of the world chess champion 2014 Viswanathan Anand (India) was started in the city of Sochi at the main media center of the OJSC Omega Center in the Olympic Park.

The main media center is located in the heart of the Olympic Park. It is from here that translation of the competitions was performed for the whole world during the Games. Today, the media center operates as a largest congress and exhibition center of the Krasnodar region.

A photo exhibition and "Chess Museum" will operate in the vestibule of the main media center every day, and young viewers will be able to play a game of chess with a robot. All tours of the match for the title of the World Chess Champion will be held in the conference hall "Pushkin".

Games for children from the Krasnodar region, honored guests and the "Champion Tournament" will also be simultaneous held within the tournament. The World Champions, Boris Spasskiy and Nona Gaprindashvili, will visit the match in Sochi.

The event will extend until November 28, 2014.
