Veniamin Kondratyev and Emir Kusturica discussed shooting a film in the Krasnodar Territory

The Governor of the region and the Serbian director met at the SPIEF 2024 site. Vice-Governor Alexander Ruppel took part in the event.

«I know that you want to shoot a film in the Krasnodar Territory. This is important for us, this is the promotion of Kuban, and we want as many people as possible to know about our region. We always support film producers. We have a film committee that supports film projects. Moreover, there is a mechanism for partial reimbursement of expenses (up to 30 per cent) incurred by film producers when shooting a film in the territory of the region. In three years, we have supported 38 films worth more than 100 million rubles. We are ready to provide the necessary support to your team,» Veniamin Kondratyev reassured the director.

Last September, Emir Kusturica took part in Cossack culture festival in Ust-Labinsk and shared plans to create films based on the works of great Russian writers.

«I have been working in the West for the last 20 years and have never seen such hospitality as in Russia. Kuban has beautiful nature, lots of sun, and its residents are open and kind people. My story is about them. The script is ready. The film will be about the identity of the Russian people,» said Emir Kusturica.

The governor noted that the Krasnodar Territory is a popular place for film producers, films have been shot since the middle of the last century.

«The film Kuban Cossacks has become a legend for many generations, it has raised brand awareness of the region for a long time. Now it’s time for new movies. I am sure you will create such a film with your own talent and deep understanding of human nature,» said Veniamin Kondratiev.

The filmmaker announced the beginning of preparations for future filming and added that he plans to come to Kuban in October.
